En la mañana de este lunes, el presidente Iván Duque anunció en su cuenta de Twitter que el nuevo codirector del Banco de la República es el ex-ministro de hacienda, Alberto Carrasquilla.

“He designado al dos veces ministro de Hacienda, Ex-Decano de Economía de la Universidad de Los Andes, Ex-Gerente Técnico del Banco de la República, y PHD en Economía, Alberto Carrasquilla, como nuevo Co-Director del Banco de la República”, manifestó el primer mandatario en su Twitter. 

La noticia se conoce luego de que Carolina Soto, anterior codirectora del Banco de la República, renunciara a su cargo el pasado viernes debido al lanzamiento oficial de su esposo Alejandro Gaviria a la candidatura presidencial del 2022.

Cabe recordar, por otro lado, que Alberto Carrasquilla renunció como ministro de hacienda hace unos meses con el hundimiento de la reforma tributaria, que llegó a impulsar el Paro nacional, que duró casi dos meses en el país.
